An eagle takes center stage in this color poster, which invites young men to join the Army's flying service. Animal painter Charles Livingston Bull, known for his naturalistic studies of birds and wildlife, designed the image, and the bird ties the appeal to national symbolism just after the United States entered World War I in 1917. Aviation was then a fast-growing and glamorous part of the military, and posters like this one were a major tool for drawing volunteers into it. The lithograph was printed by Alpha Litho. Co. in New York.
