The subject headings for this chromolithograph point to birds of prey, a common cartoon symbol for big business feeding on working people, and the title's promise of capital joined hand in hand with labor is plainly ironic. The caption attributes to Marcus Alonzo Hanna the claim that Republicans could be relied upon to fix whatever was wrong with the trusts. Hanna, the Ohio politician who managed William McKinley's campaigns and sat in the Senate, was a natural target when industrial combinations were a central political question. The cartoon ran in *The Verdict* in November 1899.
