Few labor organizations of the 1880s drew as much public attention as the Knights of Labor, and this print gathers the group's leadership onto a single sheet. It is dated to about 1886, a year when the Knights reached the height of their membership and were caught up in a wave of strikes, including the unrest that culminated in the Haymarket affair in Chicago. The shelflist card links the print to Kurz & Allison, a Chicago firm known for topical lithographs, though that attribution is not fully verified. Terence V. Powderly, the group's Grand Master Workman, was the best-known public face of the movement during these years.
