Any port in a storm" takes its title from the old proverb that any refuge will do when trouble hits, and this 1884 lithograph carries that phrase as its only guide to the scene. Currier & Ives, the New York firm that printed inexpensive colored lithographs for a broad American audience, issued thousands of such sheets in the 1880s, often with humorous or sentimental themes.
