The title places this wagon train near Pocatello, a railroad town in southeastern Idaho, though the record offers few other particulars. In 1903 the area was drawing settlers after land from the Fort Hall Indian Reservation was opened to homesteading, and many families reached their claims in covered wagons pulled by mules. Wagons like these had carried earlier generations along the Oregon Trail, so the scene shows an older style of overland travel still in use in the early twentieth century.
