A print honoring Noah Webster, who lived from 1758 to 1843, casts him as the "schoolmaster of the republic." Webster's *American Spelling Book*, first issued in 1783, taught generations of American children to read, and his 1828 *American Dictionary of the English Language* aimed to give the young nation its own spelling and vocabulary. The print's record is dated December 19, c1891, and an unverified shelflist card links it to the publisher Milton Bradley, so that attribution should be treated with caution.
