The Keney Memorial Tower, catalogued by the Detroit Publishing Company as "Keeney Memorial Tower," is a clock tower and memorial that stands in Hartford, Connecticut. The photograph was taken around 1905 on an 8 x 10 inch glass negative, a large format that gave the company's photographers fine detail for the views they sold as prints and postcards. The Detroit Publishing Company traveled widely to document American towns, parks and monuments for tourists and publishers, so this view reflects the civic pride and memorial building common in turn-of-the-century cities. Its record also shows that the negative passed through the company's catalog and later came to the State Historical Society of Colorado as a gift in 1949.
