Printed on cotton rather than paper, this 1860 campaign piece was made to be hung or carried at a rally, and its large size, about 59 by 89 centimeters, suits a banner. It names Abraham Lincoln for president and Hannibal Hamlin for vice president, the Republican ticket chosen at the party's convention in Chicago that May. Hamlin, a senator from Maine, had previously been a Democrat before joining the Republicans. The copyright was registered by H. C. Howard in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the print was made in Philadelphia ahead of the November election.
