Few wartime posters name a cabinet official as their subject, but this one does: William Gibbs McAdoo, who was then Treasury Secretary and a leading figure in the government's Liberty Loan bond drives after the United States entered the First World War in 1917. The imprint credits Ketterlinus, a Philadelphia lithography firm, which reflects how much of the wartime poster work was handled by commercial printers. The slogan "Keep 'em going!" reads as a call to sustain the national effort, and the poster's placement on a railroad theme fits, since the federal government took over the nation's rail lines in late 1917 under McAdoo's direction.
