Home treasures" is a hand-colored lithograph published in New York by Currier & Ives, the firm that sold sentimental scenes of American domestic life to a mass market. The record dates it only to a span between 1856 and 1907, which covers the firm's busiest decades, when Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives offered inexpensive color prints to households across the country. Workers, many of them women, applied the hand tinting by hand, so no two impressions share exactly the same palette. The print is catalogued as number 3116 in the firm's raisonné, which makes it easy to trace among the many titles the company issued.
