A heating stove sits at the center of this French poster, and its title, "Attendez un instant. Ça chauffe!", roughly means "Wait a second, it's warming up!" The color lithograph, signed by the artist Rouffe and dated 1916, promoted Les Foyers du soldat, a charity that provided warm rooms where French soldiers could rest and relax away from the front. Its appeal rested on a simple idea: a fire and a comfortable space meant a great deal to men in the cold of wartime winters. The poster was part of a fundraising effort for the 1916 to 1917 season.
