Waldenburg, now Wałbrzych in southwestern Poland, was then a German industrial town in Silesia, and this Army Signal Corps photograph shows its streets in April 1945. Infantrymen of the 2nd Battalion, 255th Infantry Regiment, move down a street in the town to search for enemy soldiers after a recent raid by the 63rd Division of the U.S. Seventh Army. The picture was made during the final months of the European fighting, when American units advanced deep into Germany and its eastern territories. The title's wording, which refers to "the Hun," reflects the wartime language of Allied press and official captions.
