Jules Feiffer's panel, titled "I go out on the street late at night," was drawn in ink and white-out over pencil on layered paper and first ran in the Village Voice on December 16, 1965, three days before the Hall Syndicate distributed it. Feiffer wrote and drew for the Voice in its early years, and his work turned sharp, talkative observations of city life and its anxieties into a regular feature of the paper. The record's subject tags, women and faces, point to the human figures at the center of the piece. The visible pencil beneath the inked lines and the white-out corrections also show how much of his finished line was reworked by hand before printing.
