The Day We Celebrate" takes its name from the Fourth of July, and its 1876 date places it in the centennial year of the Declaration of Independence. That anniversary drew enormous attention, with towns staging parades, readings, and fireworks, and Philadelphia hosting the Centennial Exposition that summer. Patriotic images from this period often combined flags, civic pride, and scenes of communal gathering, reflecting a nation looking back on a hundred years of self-government. Notice how such prints aimed to make a single holiday feel like a shared national story.
