A French call to buy anti-tuberculosis stamps, this 1917 color lithograph asks the public to support the fight against a disease that spread widely during the war. Tuberculosis rates climbed as hunger, crowding and overwork weakened civilians, and the poster pairs its appeal with nurses and playing children, the people most affected by the illness and its care. The print is signed "Vilaá." Stamp sales like this were a common way to raise money for sanatoriums and treatment programs in wartime Europe.
