This glass negative shows the central section of a panorama of Boston's ball grounds, dated September 28, 1912, and the record links the scene to Fenway Park, which had opened that April as the new home of the Boston Red Sox. The Bain News Service, a Manhattan press photo agency, made and distributed pictures like this for newspapers, so the image reflects how news photographs of the period were produced. Because the title comes from unverified caption data, the exact location of the view within the park is worth checking against other pictures in the series.
