Here the bride, Jacqueline Bouvier, is caught as she tosses her bouquet at the close of her wedding day in Newport, Rhode Island, on September 12, 1953. She had married John F. Kennedy, then a U.S. senator from Massachusetts, in a Catholic ceremony at St. Mary's Church, followed by a reception at the nearby Hammersmith Farm estate. The photographer, Toni Frissell, was known for fashion and society work in magazines such as *Vogue* and *Harper's Bazaar*. This print is a variant of a related image in the Library of Congress collection, so it records the same moment from a slightly different exposure.
