Titled "Moving Home Sweet Home" on its negative sleeve, this glass plate is dated January 29, 1924, based on a related negative in the collection, so the title should be read with some caution. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., commercial firm active in the early twentieth century, made a large body of glass negatives recording the city and its surroundings, and this plate belongs to that work. The original coating has begun to deteriorate, leaving streaks and blemishes across the image, a common condition in glass negatives of this age. Herbert A. French gave the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947.
