Few posters from the war era carry an address line left blank for a local recruiting office, and this one's "Apply at [blank]" shows how the Marine Corps meant to reach men in towns across the country. The Corps grew quickly after the United States entered the war in April 1917, and its recruiting campaigns borrowed the direct "wants you" appeal that had become familiar from Uncle Sam posters that year. Marines later fought in France, most famously at Belleau Wood in June 1918. Look closely at the lettering and the bold, flat color blocks, which were typical of commercial lithography at the time.
