Catalogued simply as *Masonic temple* and without a recorded date, this print is linked on its shelflist card to a John J. Wynkoop, though that attribution has not been verified. Masonic temples were meeting halls for Freemason lodges, fraternal societies that were widely established in American towns and cities during the 19th and 20th centuries. Many of these buildings were large and ornamented, housing lodge rooms, ceremonies and community gatherings. The picture was reproduced in *Viewpoints*, a 1975 Library of Congress selection from its pictorial collections, as number 152.
