The Masonic Temple at Broad and Filbert Streets was one of Philadelphia's most ornate civic buildings when the Freemasons of Pennsylvania raised it in the late 1860s and early 1870s, with James H. Windrim as architect. This photograph, credited to Kilburn on its caption card, shows the building in 1891, nearly two decades after completion. Kilburn's firm sold large numbers of stereo views and photographs to a national audience, so the image reflects how a Philadelphia landmark was presented to people far beyond the city.
