Its own title makes the appeal direct: "Antifascist women, the woman on the home front awaits you." Issued by the Propaganda Commissariat of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Barcelona between 1936 and 1939, this color lithograph belongs to the Republican effort to draw women into paid work as men left for the front. Factories and workshops in Catalonia needed workers, and posters like this one presented industrial labor as a form of antifascist service. The Library of Congress catalogs it under both women and the economic and industrial aspects of the Spanish Civil War.
