Few houses on this board carry as clear a signature as La Miniatura, the Pasadena home Frank Lloyd Wright designed for Alice Millard, whose name appears in the title. Completed in 1923, it was built from precast concrete blocks with patterned surfaces, a method Wright called the textile block system, which let him assemble a compact house on a wooded lot. The name refers to the house's small scale, and an elevated view like this one shows how its roof planes and garden walls sit within the surrounding hillside.
