Taken in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on May 6, 1923, this view is titled *Pyramid Temple*, though that name comes from a caption the National Photo Company wrote on the negative and has not been independently verified. The company, based in Washington, D.C., photographed streets, buildings, and civic life in many American cities in the early twentieth century, and its glass plates preserve the look of that era. Herbert A. French gave this negative to the Library of Congress in 1947. Its surface shows streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of the original coating, a reminder of how fragile these plates are.
