Heinrich XXXIII, Prince Reuss, is the sitter named in this glass negative, one of the many portraits that the Bain News Service produced and distributed to newspapers in the early twentieth century. Heinrich XXXIII (1879–1942) was the last reigning prince of the small German principality of Reuss Younger Line, and he ruled from 1902 until the monarchy ended with the German revolution of 1918. The Bain Collection, now held by the Library of Congress, preserves these negatives as a record of the wire-photo trade, though the caption data here is noted as unverified, so the identification should be treated as provisional.
