The sitter in this glass negative is identified only by the surname Tetrazzini, a title taken from caption cards the Bain News Service wrote on its own negatives and not independently checked. The name most likely refers to Luisa Tetrazzini, the Italian coloratura soprano who toured the United States widely in the early twentieth century and drew large audiences. Bain's studio made portraits of performers and public figures for newspaper use. The record gives no date, so the year of the exposure is uncertain.
