The panorama shows the opening-day crowd at Exposition Park, where the Pittsburg club played on the North Side of the Allegheny River. Ballpark panoramas like this were popular in the early 1900s, when a wide view could capture the grandstands, bleachers, and fans packed in for a home opener. Opening Day was a civic event in many cities, and the game against Cincinnati drew local pride as well as baseball fans. Look closely at the crowd and the stands to see how the dress, seating, and the place itself reflect the sporting life of the period.
