Pittsburgh and Cincinnati were frequent National League opponents in the early 1900s, and this 1905 photograph records one of their games from that rivalry. In 1905 the Pirates played at Exposition Park on Pittsburgh's North Side, a wooden ballpark that was their home until Forbes Field opened in 1909. The period was a busy one for the sport, with stars like shortstop Honus Wagner drawing crowds, and early ballpark photographs like this one show the crowds, uniforms and equipment of the time.
