Stoneman Station stood on the Acquia Creek and Fredericksburg Railroad in Virginia, where trains carried supplies from the Potomac landing at Acquia Creek toward Union camps around Falmouth, across the Rappahannock from Fredericksburg. The depot took its name from Gen. George Stoneman, and its caption tracings link it to the Quartermaster Corps, which handled the army's supply and transport. The record gives no date, but the station belongs to the Civil War years, when rail lines like this one kept the Army of the Potomac fed and equipped. The print is part of the Brady-Handy collection at the Library of Congress.
