The only identifying detail for this glass negative is the caption "W. Damrusch," which the Library of Congress lists as unverified and which carries no date. The plate belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, made by the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied newspapers with news and portrait photographs in the early twentieth century. Bain's team often labeled plates from caption cards written in the field, so names and spellings sometimes differ from what the sitter's records show. Those spellings are worth checking against other sources before treating the name as settled.
