The title, "Sundstedt plane," comes from data the Bain News Service supplied, and the record marks it as unverified, so the aircraft and any link to a person by that name remain unconfirmed. The picture survives as a glass negative in the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress. Bain's agency sold news photographs in New York in the early twentieth century, and its views of early aircraft are useful records of how flying machines were built and shown to the public. Anyone researching this image should check its subject against the agency's caption cards and related files.
