Two winged angels drift on soft white clouds in this vintage Christmas postcard, a design that belongs to the early twentieth-century boom in holiday greeting cards. Postcards of this kind were cheap to print and easy to mail, so families and friends sent them across the country during the Christmas season, often with a few handwritten lines on the back. Angel motifs were especially popular because they tied the holiday to its religious roots and to a sentimental style of illustration that was widely loved at the time. The soft colors and gentle, rounded figures are typical of the period's greeting card art.
