Edward Penfield's 1893 color poster for the November issue of *Harper's* magazine, published in New York by Harper & Brothers, shows the bold, flat design that made him one of the leading American poster artists of the 1890s. Penfield produced many posters and covers for the magazine, and his work helped turn magazine promotion into eye-catching street art at a time when color lithography was newly affordable. The old caption card lists the subjects "child labor" and "carriages," but those tags are unverified and should be read with caution.
