A 1925 glass negative from the National Photo Company, titled with the names L.G. Andrews and Eliot Wadsworth and the phrase "Ass't. Sec. of Treasury," points to Washington's Treasury Department during the Coolidge years. Eliot Wadsworth held a post in that department in the early 1920s, when federal officials were regular subjects for the capital's commercial studios. The National Photo Company made many portraits and news pictures in that era, and this plate reached the Library of Congress as a 1947 gift from Herbert A. French. The title comes from the studio's own notes and has not been verified, and the streaks and blemishes visible on the glass are typical of deterioration in the original coating.
