A tropic shower on the island of Luzon, in what was then the Philippine Islands, is the subject of this stereograph, a paired image meant to be viewed through a hand-held stereoscope for a three-dimensional effect. Keystone View Company, a large American publisher of these cards in the early twentieth century, issued it around 1907 under catalog number 10087. The card's caption tracings classify it as a geographic view of rain, so the scene is likely offered as a picture of tropical weather rather than of a specific town or event. Such cards were sold to households and schools as windows onto distant parts of the American empire, which had acquired the Philippines after the Spanish-American War.
