Kill-Kare Kamp is a group portrait of children at an outdoor summer camp, a setting that was growing popular in the early twentieth century as parents and reformers came to see fresh air and organized outdoor activity as good for young people. The photograph was made by the National Photo Company, whose studio produced a large body of commercial portraits and views, and the record dates it somewhere between 1909 and 1932. Look closely at the children's clothing, which shows how dress for play and camp life was changing in those decades.
