A color lithograph from the April 1918 issue of *The Delineator*, a popular women's magazine, this poster pairs its slogan, "For the safety of womanhood ... help 'till it hurts," with images of mothers and children, soldiers, and the American flag. The United States had entered the war in April 1917, and by 1918 wartime campaigns were asking civilians, and women in particular, to give money, food, and labor. Printing the appeal in a magazine aimed at women as well as in public spaces reflected how central домашние households had become to the war effort. The poster's blunt phrasing, urging help "till it hurts," shows how such appeals often pressed for personal sacrifice.
