Elk hunting at an estate in Germany is the subject here, a hunt held at the Basedow property of Count Hahn in October 1937. The print comes from a photo album documenting Hermann Göring's activities during September and October of that year, when he used such estates for hunting and social visits. Göring was a dedicated hunter who turned Germany's hunting traditions into a public display of status under the Nazi regime. The date and location come from a caption card later revised, so they are worth checking against other sources before citing.
