Seven named women share one sheet in this tinted lithograph, among them Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Lydia Maria Child. L. Prang & Co., the Boston firm known for its color printing, issued it around 1870 from a drawing by L. Schamer. The title, "Representative Women," reflects a period when abolition, temperance and women's suffrage had drawn many women into public life, and the mix of writers, lecturers and activists shows how broadly that label could stretch.
