The poster announces the eighth season of the Des Moines public forum and a talk by philosopher Harry Overstreet, whose popular writing on human behavior made him a frequent draw at adult education forums in the 1930s. This silkscreen print was produced in 1936 under the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, which employed artists to design posters for lectures, concerts and community events. A date stamp of Nov 8, 1940, on the back shows the poster was still being kept or used several years after it was printed.
