The title *King's Palace* comes from notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, but it has not been independently verified, so the subject is best approached with some caution. The picture dates from roughly 1910 to 1926, a period when the firm produced large numbers of views of cities, landmarks and tourist sites, many of which were later reproduced as postcards and prints. Worth noticing are the streaks and spots on the glass, which come from the gradual breakdown of the original emulsion coatings rather than from anything in the scene itself.
