Plate no. 2 in its series, this hand-colored engraving is titled *Curiosity*, a name that points to the trait its clerical subject is meant to embody. Woodward designed it, and William Holland published it in London in 1806, placing it among the British cartoon prints later gathered by the Library of Congress. Caricatures of clergymen were a familiar subject in London print shops of the period, and because the color was applied by hand, the tones can vary from one impression to another.
