Crowds fill the grounds in this 1926 view of the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition in Philadelphia. The fair marked 150 years since the Declaration of Independence and opened in June 1926 on the former League Island Park site in South Philadelphia. Although it drew large numbers of visitors, it struggled with construction delays and money troubles, and its attendance fell short of organizers' hopes. The photograph captures the scale of the gatherings that did come.
