Young people aged 26 to 35 are the specific audience this poster addresses, and its title makes the call plain: volunteer for national service. Its subject list also names flags and community service, tying the appeal to the new state's public life. The poster dates to about 1948, the year Israel declared independence and fought the war that followed, when young volunteers were urgently needed to build and defend the country. The artist is recorded only as M. Karah. The chromolithograph method, which built up color through several stone or plate impressions, was a common way to produce bold public posters of that period.
