The title page of *Wonderland 1901* introduces a guidebook to Yellowstone National Park written by Olin D. Wheeler and produced for the Northern Pacific Railway. Wheeler used the volume to encourage travelers to visit the park, which Congress had set aside as the nation's first national park in 1872. The "Wonderland" name echoes a long-standing nickname for Yellowstone's geysers, hot springs, and canyons, and the book presented the region as a destination reachable by rail.
