Waseda University, a Tokyo school, fielded one of the stronger college baseball teams in Japan in the early 1920s, and this glass negative records its players. The Bain News Service, the New York photo agency run by George Grantham Bain, supplied pictures of news and sports to newspapers, and its negatives were often made for quick publication. The 1921 date comes from caption information the agency wrote on the negatives, which the Library of Congress notes has not been independently verified, so treat the year as provisional.
