The record gives only a surname, "Lorenz," taken from unverified notes made by the Bain News Service on the negative or its caption card, so the identity of the sitter or subject cannot be confirmed from the catalog entry alone. The image is a 5 x 7 inch or smaller glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress. Bain's agency, a New York news photography business active in the early 1900s, supplied pictures of public figures, events and everyday subjects to newspapers, and its glass plates survive as a large body of documentary material from that period.
