Three separate photoprints have been joined into one composite that shows a Machine-Tractor Station, or MTS, in the Soviet Union in 1947. One panel shows two men guiding a tractor and seed planter across a field, while the others show men and women working on farm machinery and a woman holding a machine part. The MTS system began in 1928 to supply tractors and equipment to collective farms, and after World War II many women took on mechanical and tractor work because the war had taken so many men. The caption details are unverified, so the exact location and the identities of the workers remain uncertain.
