Four small photoprints are joined here to show two moments from the Second All-Union Conference of the Advocates of Peace, held in Moscow in October 1950. The upper pair shows M. Tikhonov addressing the gathering at the Union House, while the lower pair shows delegates listening to M. Botov, whom the caption identifies as members of a collective farm called Zhanov in Gorky. The conference belonged to the Soviet-backed peace campaign of 1950, which gathered signatures for the Stockholm Appeal against atomic weapons. The names and details come from an old caption card and have not been independently verified.
