The poster advertises Eugen Sandow, the Prussian-born strongman whose muscular physique and feats of weight lifting made him one of the most famous performers of the 1890s. Its record credits the Strobridge Lithograph Company, a firm known for theatrical posters, and lists Florenz Ziegfeld as the name associated with the production. Sandow's American tour of 1893 and 1894 drew large crowds to vaudeville houses, and posters like this one helped turn his display of strength into a commercial spectacle. Like many such bills, it blends the promise of athletic wonder with the showmanship of the vaudeville stage.
